The fall bite is in full swing here in Charlotte Harbor! Redfish and snook fishing has been very productive, with lots of fish in the 20–30 inch range being caught. We’re having success using live shrimp and ladyfish chunks, especially when fishing tight to the mangroves on points along the West Wall.

In addition to the inshore action, there have been schools of Spanish mackerel and ladyfish showing up in the middle of the harbor. Watch for diving birds—they’re a dead giveaway that these fast-moving fish are nearby and feeding.
We’re still seeing a few tarpon hanging around and there are plenty of jack crevalle roaming the harbor as well, making for some great rod-bending action.

If you’re looking to get on the water this October, now’s a great time!
Until next time, tight lines!
