The summer tarpon bite is in full swing! Boca Grande Pass has been the hotspot, with plenty of action also happening throughout Charlotte Harbor. The outgoing tide has produced the best results, as crabs flushing out of the Harbor draw in hungry tarpon.
Snook fishing has been solid too, with fish staging along the beaches for their annual summer spawn. On the West Wall, redfish have been active along the bushes—cut ladyfish and shrimp have been the go-to baits for coaxing them out of cover.
Trout have transitioned to their summer pattern, holding in deeper grass flats in 3 to 5 feet of water. A popping cork rig or twitch bait can help cover water and locate schools.
And if you’re looking for big pulls, the sharks are everywhere. Cut ladyfish is all you need to get in on the action—expect a wide range of sizes across the Harbor.
Until next time, tight lines!
